i had a few bananas that were going bad.. and i was going to make regular banana bread but i feel like i always make regular banana bread! decided to give in a little twist with a swirl of chocolate 🙂

3 cups whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened apple sauce
2 whole eggs
2 egg whites
3 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
3 very ripe mashed bananas
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup almond milk
3 tablespoons cocoa powder

in a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg
in another bowl, combine applesauce, mashed bananas, vanilla extract, whole eggs, brown sugar and coconut oil
whip egg whites in a separate bowl until stiff peeks form

combine wet ingredients and dry ingredients and mix well, adding almond milk until smooth
fold in egg whites

grease a loaf pan and pour half the batter into it
add cocoa powder to the other half of the batter and blend
pour the chocolate batter into your loaf pan and take a knife and make a swirling motion until the two batters are not entirely blended

bake at 350 for about 40 minutes or until knife comes out clean
let cool on a cooling rack and enjoy!!
